Intermedia Exchange Hosting: Security Policy change

October 26th, 2009

As far as you may know Intermedia is in the process of changing and improving the security policy. As we are providing help and support via phone, it’s very important for us to make sure the person calling really is the mister Smith who owns the account.

The only users whom Intermedia employees are authorized to provide full assistance with are account contacts. Previously, each account contact had a security question which was used to verify his/her identity; the number has increased from one to three per contact and the old set of questions was replaced with a new one. If you call techsupport you will have to answer only one of the three questions for your contact, one that was randomly chosen by the system. If you are unable to give the correct answer, techsupport will transfer you to customer service department to verify your identity.

The following articles can provide you with more information:

Nothing so exciting going on at the moment, but I just wanted to notify you about several new articles that were created for Intermedia Knowledge Base recently. Here they are:

How to hide filed messages on a BlackBerry device

SharePoint 2007 Disk Space Usage – a pretty good article that covert storage management from both HostPilot and Site Administration

PST Manager: Troubleshouting FTP Connection Issues

Data Migration from POP Hosting to Intermedia – this one is very helpful as it mentiones four different options to migrate

And that would be all for today.

Entourage Profile Helper

July 23rd, 2009

For all Mac and Entourage users out there we proudly present our new Entourage Profile Helper, designed to make creating profiles in Entourage easy and and smooth in comparison with the past days when you had to create the profiles manually copying and pasting server names, usernames etc. from the control panel.

Some of you have probably seen the notification about the EPH on the Welcome page in the HostPilot control panel. Anyways, please let me remind where this EPH is to be found:

- Get started page > Download & Set Up Your Email Client > Run Entourage 2008 Profile Helper (Setup Wizard). PLease note that we didn’t remove the “Setup Instructions” for Entourage in case you would like to create the profile manually
- Welcome page > you can’t miss the link ;)
or:
- Mymailboxmanager.com > Get Started > Download & Set Up Your Email Client > Run Entourage Profile Helper (Setup Wizard)

And of course here’s the article devoted to the subject:

PST Scheduled Backups

June 15th, 2009

UPDATE:  PST Scheduled Backups are old news, but here’s some new addition: KB article about the matter. So those who prefer to read about the service before trying it out are welcome to take a look!

Hello all,

We are excited to announce that we decided to upgrade our PST manager tool by creating a new option for our old and new customers alike.

Q What kind if feature is it?

A It’s a feature that would allow you to create scheduled backups for mailboxes existing on your account. You create a schedule backup rule and after that our system would automatically create backups of the mailbox(-es) in question.

Q What about the recurrence pattern?

A For now you have two options: backups can be created either weekly (and you can specify the day of the week) or monthly (and you can specify either some date or the first/second/third/last  Monday/Tuesday/etc).

Q Ok, I want to have a rule that backups my mailbox once a month and I’ve selected "30" from the drop-down menu when specifying the date. How about February, then? There are only 28 days in this month.

A Then a backup would be created on the 28th of February.

Q Do I have to create a separate scheduled backup rule for each mailbox?

A No. You can set up one backup rule and assign several mailboxes to it.

Q Where can I find this scheduled backups option?

A HostPilot > PST Manager > Scheduled Backups tab. There you can also find the price for weekly and monthly backups and a little bit more information in the right "Hints" pane. There’s no knowledge base article to cover the topic yet but we believe it is on its way.

Feel free to take a look!

Why does SpamStopper allow messages from Blocked senders to go through?

April 19th, 2009

We all know that spam messages are a real pain especially when they’re ’spoofed’ – when they seem to be coming from a fake e-mail address and it seems that your friend, your business partner is sending you junk messages. Sometimes it may even seem that you’re sending spam to yourself.

We are presenting this article hoping that it would help you to identify the real malefactor and blacklist him. Please take a look, this article is worth your attention!
