Intermedia Web Hosting: Changes to the Mail Infastructure

November 5th, 2009

Intermedia is making infrastructure changes for our Web Hosting Plans so that incoming email is received by our front-end mail filter servers, rather than the actual mail server. The purpose of this change is to ensure that mail is properly filtered and routed through our infrastructure in a manner that is secure for our customers, and safe for our environment. As spam activity increases and more advanced techniques are used by spammers, this becomes a necesary change. As a customer, you may see notifications requesting you to modify your MX records. Some customers use Spam Filtering Services, and this change may affect those customers.

What is an MX Record?

If you have questions about how this change might affect your mail services with Intermedia, please call Support or open a Support Ticket in your HostPilot under Technical Support > Create New Case. Technical Support can help you update your MX Record at any time you wish. This change will not require you to modify any settings in your email program. If you would like to make this change now, the records are in place and ready for use.
