Implementation HTTP->HTTPS Redirect for WSS 3.0 Domains

April 28th, 2009

Starting today the implementation of HTTP > HTTPS redirects for WSS 3.0 domains is getting underway. The decision to implement it is well thought over and here are the main reasons for doing that:

1. to ensure security for SharePoint sites

2. to resolve long lasting problems with SharePoint search (in reality it does not work at all thru http)

Based on these factors and a number of smaller ones the decision to enforce it was made.

Within a month or so it will be implemented across our infrustructure. The change itself is transparent to the customers so no one should even notice that:)
